1998 Defender 90 300 Tdi HT Rioja Red
Clutch pedal sticking down
Looks like I'll be spending the weekend changing the clutch master and slave cylinders. The pedal has been squeaking recently and now is not returning fully up I've greased the pedal spring but it's still sticking before I strip it all down has anybody any other ideas?

Long shot but if you look form under the bonnet. You will find a nut on the clutch box housing undo it and pump some grease into it. Is a long shot but will not cost much. Best of luck.

You could also try lubing the adjuster pivot under the master cylinder cover plate.First,
I have just changed my master & slave cylinder for the same problem.

Quick update swopped the master and clutch cylinders problem sorted. Anyone having a go at this and using the Haynes manual,the book says remove the clutch pedal rubber to ease pedal box removal (don't bother waste of time) better to remove the air cleaner box as pulling the pedal box assembly through the bulkhead and turning it though 90 degrees is a bit tricky as it fouls the air box and brake servo. Also when replacing slave cylinder make sure you put the bleed screw above the fluid feed pipe this eases bleeding
