How many ways do people expect to communicate with small businesses?

In times gone by it was good old fashioned Royal Mail, then as you become richer it was by telephone. Now mobile phones and texts messaging exists along with these new fangled electronic mails systems. All I can cope with. Private messaging on forums are not too bad, the only problem is you can not readily search them or organise the pms.

I can just about cope with all of those to a greater or lesser extent. People sending private messages on farcebook stand very little chance of getting a response from me and as for people trying to tempt me with their new cheapo Chinese lights on Linkedin without sending proper specifications, prices and availability stand zero chance of getting a reply.

If you want to talk to me pick up the phone, send me a note be it via snail post or even electronic post. Don't expect a reply from me on farcebook/linkedout or any other form of so called NONsocial media!

Yours one truly grumpy old git!

I do NOT have a personal FARCEBOOK account!

There are enough ways of contacting me without them.

Also I am a GRUMPY OLD GIT and this thread allows me to satisfy my inner needs.

As for one business who does not have a readily accessible phone number or email address but expect BUSINESS TO BUSINESS communication via private messaging on FARCEBOOK they are hardly likely to see any more of our money!

Rant over, now back to work after tea break!

Bit of an add on to a previous post about adverts, what is it about the damned Americanisms in adverts especially the line that pops up all too frequently....... "Two times better". Ye Gods, we're English and there's a word in the dictionary, namely "twice" or you can even use "double".
This one really grates on me and when I heard my 15 year old boy using it when he was asking me to help him with his English homework I think my reaction will remain with him untill he helps his kids with their homework in a few years time.

A plague of fleas on the tricked up 'let's off road' stylee Defender 90 driver who appeared to be frightened to pull over and put just two of his oversized wheels and tyres on the wide, flat, downhill grass verge on his side of a country lane not too far from Thetford but instead appeared expected me to pull virtually the entire width of my 7.5 ton horsebox onto the opposite uphill grass verge.

Learn some manners sonny Banging Head Steve.

So let that rant out, get it off your chest and be grumpy!

Don't get me started, lane hogging on motorways, not dipping headlights at night, barging into to your safe distance gap and make you break hard, undertaking (funeral directors excluded), bloody foreign HGV's side swiping other road users, joining a motorway and immediately attempting to get straight into lane 3, any cyclist at every road junction and pedestrian crossing, inconsiderate parking.............

Wow first time on here, feels bloody great Thumbs Up Cheers Simon

Drivers who creep past articulated lorries for fear the lorry will suddenly leap across lanes, rather than realising being alongside the lorry for 15 secs is putting them at greater risk than if they blipped the throttle and got on with it.... Thud Monsieur Le Grenadier

The greeting card industry - valentines day, grand fathers day, black and white cats day, guy down the road day, congratulations on the birth of your 2nd cousin 5th removed!!!......

what is wrong with a hand written note, a bunch of daffodils from the garden, a smile, a hug. Why do we have to commercialise every opportunity.

30 years we have been together and I have never wasted a penny on a valentines card, but yesterday when I did want a card saying congratulations on the birth of your daughter for a member of my family who has tried for many many years to have baby the selection was rubbish because it had been displaced by a 16 foot long display of red cards covered in stupid teddies or red roses for people who make annual gestures of love instead of displaying love every day. Like trying to find a birthday card for my wife. (Birthday in December)

It's the ridiculous prices of cards that really gets me!
