I've had similar in the past. Try ringing NFU, they understand that a defender is a vehicle that is changed and adapted to what it needs to be. That sort of thing really doesn't bother them.

Have you tried the forum sponsor, A-Plan?
Have a look at this post: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42540.html |

Or Footman James? Buy a copy of LRO or similar and look in the specialist insurer ads at the back. The "classic" policy specialists tend to be more flexible, but you may have a problem with it being to new for some of them.
Good luck! That's not a dent, it's a rivet. That's not a dent, it's a rivet. That's not ... oh! That is a dent! 2014 90 XS SW 1997 Discovery 300TdiS (retired to stud) 1966 Series IIA 88" (now my son's) 2001 Astra - I need something to go and buy the parts when the others are off the road! |

NFU aren't always that great, I've had quotes for £3600 and then this year was £1800. Adrian Flux were £600 this year for more cover.
A lot of the classic car insurance companies won't touch it if it's less than 5 years old either. |

NFU wouldn't touch me. I quote "Maybe if you were older, or had had it for a few years already" So all I would need to do, is drive around uninsured for 3 three years, or leave it in a barn for 3 years, then they'd insure me no bother!! A Plan were about £2k (on a standard 110 SW) Ended up with admiral at £650 or something. |

I have the 90 insured with Adrian Flux - that's a station wagon converted to soft top by me and no problems there.

Adrian Flux have agreed to insure the vehicle at a reasonable premium. Thanks for all the advice. My husband just has to learn to drive it now, never having driven a Defender before.
