Facebook !

Can't make this up !

Unfriending a colleague on Facebook can amount to workplace bullying, a tribunal has ruled.

Estate agent Rachael Roberts says she was bullied by her employer because she was removed as a friend on the social networking site.

Australia's Fair Work Commission heard the case, and ruled that Ms Roberts had been discriminated against by her Tasmania-based employer.

She had been unfriended by Lisa Bird, the wife of the agency's boss - who also worked at the firm.

The tribunal found that the move showed a "lack of emotional maturity" and was "indicative of unreasonable behaviour".

The commission's deputy president Nicole Wells said: "Mrs Bird took the first opportunity to draw a line under the relationship with Ms Roberts when she removed her as a friend on Facebook as she did not like Ms Roberts and would prefer not to have to deal with her."

The dispute with senior management began when Ms Roberts complained that her properties were not being displayed fairly in the office's front window.

She was later diagnosed with depression and anxiety and was deemed unfit to work by a psychologist until the dispute had been resolved.

The tribunal said that Mrs Bird's behaviour - which included calling Ms Roberts a "naughty little schoolgirl running to the teacher" - posed a risk to the employee's health and safety.

The tribunal is unable to award compensation, and instead can only oblige the employer and employee to meet to resolve the situation.

Had to leave two hours later from home and therefore hesitated to take the Subaru to reach my appointment a little less late. But as I was late anyways...

So loaded up the 130 and left. A little over 150 km the interior filled with loud blowing wind noises. WTF???
Foot off the pedal, it stopped. Foot on the throttle and it started again.
Repeated it a few times, something with turbo and hose came to mind.
Engine management light came off, power completely gone...
It all resulted in being towed away to a shop, and being given a Hyundai i30 as a replacement car to continue my journey.
Although it covered 420 km without a single problem that day I must say this must have been the saddest car I've ever driven in my live. I think its unique selling point is boredom???? 😑

Can't wait to pick up my Defender again. Hopefully in a couple of days.
Lower top speed, lower cornering speed, far higher fuel consumption and loads more fun to drive!!!!!! 😎

Why is it that the vehicle I use to go with my domestic recycling is more important than the actual waste I have to recycle? No I am not going to register as a commercial vehicle for free because that is the top of a very slippery slope into being charged as a trade user. Do one nycc. I have other vehicles and I will use them. Or alternatively come pick it up from my house, oh no, that's right when I leave it out for you it becomes invisible. Really just do one, you feckless numbties. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I was flicking through this thread to catch up on what's upsetting the Defender community, and it took me a moment or two to twig that there is no connection between these two sequential posts! Rolling with laughter

I agree! I appreciate that there needs to be some way to stop unscrupulous tradespeople dumping trade waste free of charge, but there must surely be a better way than basing it on vehicle type.

I have a 110 DC with a IW canopy, and if I visit the tip - sorry, "Household Recycling Centre" - I am not allowed in without a free (for now) six-visits-per-year permit. If I put the rubbish in my Disco 2, I am allowed unlimited free visits with no hassle. It's the same rubbish and is just as domestic in both cases. If it was an SW or USW there'd be no problem getting in.

SWMBO has a Navara with a truckman top. She similarly isn't allowed to enter the tip without a permit, but put the rubbish in her Mazda 3 and she can. Bonkers.

It was very evident last time I was at the tip - sorry, HRC - that there were Volvo estates etc rolling in which were clearly filled with trade waste from painters and decorators, builders, gardeners, etc. Very evidently not domestic, and no-one questioned them at all.

Personally I feel ti shoudl be mase as easy and cheap as possible for poeple to dispose of unwanted stuff and refuse in a socially responsible way, in order to discourage fly-tipping etc. The system isn't working at the moment!

Quite agree with you.

I had the same problem with my 200Tdi, I had to show them on the inside where the glass was and that I had plated it over because the sliding windows are a terrible deign that rattles and leaks and doesn't shut properly or securely and I was only allowed to use it that time "as were doing you a favour to be nice".

I understand if its trade waste but similarly, why not just have a register so you can dump trade waste for free so it can be recycled rather than dumped?

Just encourages these "clear your rubbish with my transit tipper" lot to collect your rubbish and money and then dump it into a canal or lane or field Sad Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

I make irregular trips to the dump ad I have a 110 hicap trailer. It can carry alot of rubbish. And I have not been challenged before. Its hitche to my 110 perhaps it being a CSW averts their interest ?

When I lived in Colchester they would have a marked eye on me though. I thought it might be due to having a land rover, only got challanged once when I had a lot of old car parts and about 40 litres of oil to recycle.

I had a week off and got collared by friends and family to service and repair cars, I made them make it worth my while. Needless to say I still have one bottle left haha

My local tip has a strict limit on the maximum size of permitted trailer, and it's around the size of a wheelbarrow! Needless to say my Ifor Williams LM146 is not allowed in.

There may be ways they could make it more difficult, but I doubt it. Small wonder that more and more laybys and gateways round here are being used for fly-tipping.

Why don't they charge one off fees on the spot rather than this stupid permit business.
Then that way it's only as expensive as many visits you make.

People that fail to keep appointments. Two Dr's over two months have failed to keep appointments they have made with me to visit me at home. They made the appointment not me. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.
