No, I don't think so. It's a widespread 'feature' but as far as I know has never been a recall. Under warranty it was fixed FOC, but outside warranty it's DIY.
On the 2.2 there was - I think - a recall for the intercooler pipe rubbing on the alternator. |

Never heard of that problem you mention there for the 2.4, but there are a good number of standard intercooler pipes that eventually will split due to the pressure. I have had that experience, and in the end replaced the standard pipes by stainless steel version. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Like Ericvv, I replaced the intercooler pipes on my 2010 110 (only 18k miles) With entreq stainless pipes. interestingly the hose from the turbo to intercooler had an indentation from what looks like a bolt head rubbing against it. it had not burst but may not have lasted too much longer. The pipe from the intercooler to inlet manifold if still like new.

Cheers chaps. I was'nt sure if there was a recall or not. It came about because I was coming home from a rally at the weekend and saw a 90 broken down. On getting closer, I knew the people in the 90.
Idler pulley had seized, so belt had gone and also a hole in the intercooler pipe caused by the steering UJ rubbing through. I will pass on the info. PS Last thing you need is UJ chaffing on things! 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |
