United Kingdom 1998 Defender 90 300 Tdi SW Cairns Blue
Plastering
After a bit of advice need to sort out a bathroom ceiling its lath and plaster with a few cracks but otherwise sound should I over board first then plaster or will I be ok to plaster over the top.also it's Been painted so does this need to see led with pva first.

Personally I would overboard and use plasterboard screws and not nails then skim without the need to pva.

Personally i would overboard it with plasterboard and then skim. That way you'll prevent/reduce future re-cracking.
It will be warmer too.

Had a loft conversion a few years ago and the disturbance caused the plaster to break off the lathes, it was only the paper holding the ceiling up. Just pulled the lot down, plaster-boarded and skimmed.
