Good guessing guys - Machine gun parts would have been fun! Although you were right with the spacers.

I went for the Terrafirma 30mm set. It gives the vehicle a slightly different road presence. I found it slightly more stable at high road speeds. However the main reason for fitting was not anesthetics, it was for turning circle improvement. I adjusted the steering stops and checked clearance. Opted not to go too far with the stops to give plenty clearance for mud against the radius arms. Used a little silver grease to prevent alloy welding to steel!

Great success - it now turns like a London cab! (not really but an incredible difference to standard)

And before anyone tells me - yes I know the sides will get even more caked with mud but its a defender...Rolling with laughter

Dave - No gun rack yet, I'll come up with something one day.

Need4speed - The pic makes it look small. I have just got a new Blaser R8 and its even more compact!

Hi gunbus no not yet brattonsound don't do them. There's just not enough height for a vertical rack so I will just keep it in the motoring case. Stay safe.

Very Happy

Out of interest, why did you go for the spring spacer rather than longer springs?

I went for longer springs on mine and have since taken them off but at the time it was 50/50 between the two.

Truck is looking great by the way Thumbs Up Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Thanks Shaggydog,

I didn't do too much revision to be honest. Looking at the spacers I had it in my head that I would be able to retain the same shock travel. Although this works for the front it wont for the rear.

Anyway I am still in the process of fitting. The rears I cant go wrong but the fronts I want to double check. The front spacers have a hole on one side big enough for the sock to go through, but when I fitted it this way up the shock ain't long enough to fit the lock nut etc.. When I fit the spacer the other way round it makes more sense although tightening the lock nut is tricky due to the lack of accessibility. I'm not 100% sure what the reason is for the large hole on one side of the front spacer?

As you can tell I'm no mechanic, I will seek professional advice to make sure I am happy before I proceed!

Did you have to change the shocks along with the longer springs?

Are the wheel nuts just finger tight there or is that as far as they go down the threads?
