Probably a lot less than it's capable of! I don't really need most of the outputs as I have a Gendan engine check pro for my diagnostics and engine light reset if I need it. Just thought it was quite a good little extra tool to see how different conditions affect fuel consumption, engine temp, etc. Just another gadget I don't really need!. I was just wondering if anyone had brought anything similar out over the years as this seems quite old now.

I simply need it to read codes, reset if necessary and to keep an eye out on certain parameters. Pound for pound and having had one fitted for a number of years I still think it's one of the best out there unless you want to spend four times as much for extra capabilities. It's been permanently connected and never given me any bother whatsoever. It has also paid for itself more than once.

IMHO The scangauge is the monitoring tool that all Puma owners should fit. Yes it is a bit square and unsightly and they could add another sensor or two, G/S Mass air flow for instance, hint, hint. But for the ease of use and a standard fit and forget it offers live data of the engine sensors with a good refresh rate for accurate measuring of the live data. Personally my one is set up to monitor FPr (Fuel rail pressure), MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure), Ai (Air intake temp, taken from MAF sensor) and CHT (Cylinder Head Temp). Using these four sensors readings matched against what the engine is doing is enough to point you in the general direction of any faults that may appear. The Ultragauge is another good tool but the refresh rate and accuracy just does not seem right when compared to having the scangauge plugged in. JMTW

Wouldn't be without my SGII
I just moved it to the A2 for a few days to check consumption - 62 mpg 
Can never tell the wife though or she'll nag me even more for taking the Defender to work every day  Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I have been pleased with my Scangauge II, simple to fit, and set up, and as far as I can tell very accurate. I fitted it as I was 'spooked' by the appearance of the Engine Warning Light (MIL Light) When fitted this revealed a 'standard' P1103 Fault Code.  Click image to enlarge P1103 Mass Air Flow Sensor In Range But Higher Than Expected D* d M* MAF which cleared it'self after around 6 starting cycles, even though I now had the ability to clear it myself with the ScanGauge. I liked the ability to adjust the ScanGauge to exactly the rolling diameter of the Wheels (Tyres) fitted so MPG is probably accurately calculated. I would not buy this (or any other Monitoring Gauge) to make a significant difference to my MPG, with the thinking / claim being that you adjust your driving style to keep the Average MPG as high as possible... most drivers (I would argue) that have a sensitivity to what's going on under the bonnet will know instinctively how to 'stretch' the available fuel to give a high mileage. I installed mine on top of the steering biblical, taking the feed wire out of the grommet already in place (which I cut to get the RJ45 plug through. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge At the other end I cut a clearance hole in the Fuse Panel Cover to sit around the OBD11 Plug as there is insufficient clearance to plug this in and close the Fuse Cover. I read the 'custom' Plug solution for this but wanted to keep it simple (and standard). No,, its not a extension for the OBD socket,, but a splitter,,

Better still whilst you're at it relocate the OBD socket somewhere else as extra security perhaps? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
