Single DIN fixed Nav systems
I'm starting to hunt around for some new sound system stuff. I'm after a fixed nav system that'll go in the standard DIN, I'm not that fussed on the 2 DIN upgrade.

One system I've found is this Clarion one, does anyone have any experience with this one? http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-...-27662.htm

Another I've found is the Audovox one, the software looks a bit dated but looks ok.

Can any recommend a similar system?

Other upgrades I'll be looking to do (ones I've seen on here) include hanging a Kenwood underseat sub off the back of the cubby box & the Focal speaker upgrade. The spawn of AndrewS

Nice one guys, I've pretty much got my head set on the Clarion one, it seems to be a good price with all the bits.

The Pioneer one starts to get a bit pricey when you start adding the nav add ons & cameras ect.

I didn't realise Tim, I should've had a bit more of a nose around your truck! Wink The spawn of AndrewS

The downside of the Clarion is you can't change the blue lights into green.

The Clarion unit is excellent and absolutely brilliant if you have the TV unit. However, if you have the tv unit, sub unit, iPod connection, external mic unit etc...it is an absolute pig of a job to fit it in a Puma with all the cables and plugs/sockets at the back of the Clarion and the Vent pipes of the Puma. It takes a lot of patience and scraped knuckles and a few plasters too Crying or Very sad

Thanks for the heads up smb. I fitted a head unit in my tdci 90 a few years back that was full of leads at the back & it was a nightmare fitting it all in, like you said.

I'll hopefully get around to ordering it all up this weekend. The spawn of AndrewS

Out of interest where are the rest of you routing your cabling if you have external units to fit?
Mines running mostly drivers side down the void to the footwell area but under the mat to between the handbrake to cubby.
Then under the cubby to the rear area.

Yea I used to do it as you've said above mostly.

You could run cables out through the bulkhead and down on to the chassis rails to the rear & back into the body. The spawn of AndrewS

There could be better ways of routing it really but the plugs are too large to thread through and you wouldn't want to cut them off just to thread through to re-solder. Then of course you can't remove it either.

We've gone down the back of the dash & out through the the transmission cover to rear before. That was from switching on the dash to inverter relays, amp, under seat sub & a few other things towards the back of the 130.

Ordered up the Clarion head unit earlier with the Kenwood under seat sub for now. I noticed its DVB-T ready? Anyone know what that means? Googled it, something to do with t.v? The spawn of AndrewS
