The earlier version of the Water Ingress Manual just makes reference to "black tape" being applied over the dum dum.

Prohibitively expensive but Solas Spray Tape is the best you can get. Used in the marine industry it is usually used for high pressure pipe unions with a silicone adhesive will not allow anything to get through.
 If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

For clarity ! ..............Has anybody got any pics of their attempt to do it to their truck?with dum dum or some other product rather than dum dum as not everbody has an ancient supply of dum dum in their shed/garage!

I am sure that stuff will be fine. I was given a small quantity of dum dum equivalent by the Land Rover centre. (Huddersfield, I am lucky that that they are less than 2 miles from my house.) they get it from a local auto factors so when I run out that is where I will purchase it from. As for applying it, it is really only good for the areas Land Rover put it in in the first place. So have a look behind the door seals where the pillars meet the roof and you will see the dum dum and the tape. They also gum up holes between the floor panels with it. Any other leaks that occur after the less than adequate factory sealing are probably best fixed with either silicone or body sealant. Eg..around the pedals or around the windscreen.
In my case at least, most of the water entering the cab runs through the doors and out of their draining holes at the bottom, as it should. Unfortunately those draining holes seem to deposit it straight into the cab. Oh well,that is why we love them I suppose.  2002 110 td5 |

Im not sure that stuff is not the same as the caulk that frosts sell but very much more expensive!

Well as you posted first, it's "much much cheaper" if you only want a reasonable quantity - you caulking a couple of holes in a Defender or the deck of your yacht? |

Sorry supercat but as soon as i read it i changed it as it read wrong ............. to avoid confusion the frost caulk is much cheaper than the caulk you gave the link for, as you get much more in the box and it keeps!
