Like I said bad wiring into the underseat compartment easy thing to do is give it a wiggle under there next time it doesn't start, hard fix is to book it into a good auto electrician

I have had the same problem. With me it was a bad connection at the as10.
But I had more problems with bad connections as mine had swimming lessons in deep brown water?: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Roel 1984 90 2.5 na Diesel - RR V8 (1994-2001) 1997 Camel Trophy Discovery 300TDI (2001-2009) 2005 G4 Discovery III 4.4 V8 (2008-2018) It's gone but it still hurts. 2003 90 Td5 (2009-now) |

Yep the 10AS wires go up over the gearbox and run in a ribbed conduit with nothing covering the wires really seeing this a lot on them now. The header blocks giving problems too.

Nickmc what is a header block exactly? I've seen this referred to on Haynes manual, but what does it look like?, and where exactly are they located? it's just I have a td5 which has suspected earth issues

A header block is basically I guess a junction box for wires like earths. Eg the White one on the bulkhead beside the brake Servo or the one beside the ECU under the drivers seat. They look like plastic moulded rectangles.
