So here I am with T3, my 2005 90 van in the middle of the mountains.
This morning the front windscreen wipers failed instantly and totally in vertical position, all switch settings. 
There was a single noise clunk / bang but engine was running so - not much to hear! The rear wiper still works. Other electrics work. This is basic van model, so first q is... fuse, motor, relays, switch? 
And how to diagnose with limited tools/ access. (Garages here are 200 swiss bucks an hour..) Is front wiper on it's own fuse? Is there a relay and can it 'blow'? (Please don't say motor...!) Thanks Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz Brought the 90 home from Switzerland ... |

Hmm thanks! Washers were frozen this morning, not enough anti freeze what I last topped up.
I've got a Haynes manual here, it seems to say under seat fusebox (#5) and passenger fusebox (#9) for the fuses .. it's that nasty clunk I also heard ... 
Um., the motor is a front dash removal job? Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz Brought the 90 home from Switzerland ... |

The wipers can lock due to wear in the wheelboxes and rack (mine locked mid-wipe not long ago for this reason). Try waggling each wipet by hand, there should be a little play in both, at least it should be apparent that they're not locked solid. You may find that one clicks and then they wipe again. Remember that if they have jammed the motor will be live and trying to park them all the time the ignition is on. Although there is (apparently) thermal protection on the motor it is likely that prolonged running in this state will cause collateral damage.
If this does turn out to be the problem a short term fix is to remove the motor, extract the drive rack, and adjust the wheelboxes so a different part of the gear is in use. The permanent fix (new rack and wheelboxes) should be done as soon as possible and requires removal of the dash in a Puma. It took me about 4 hours a few werks ago to do mine, but I have had a lot of experience removing the dash. Edit - just noticed you have a Td5 which makes the job easier as far as I know. |

Fiddle around at lunchtime and wiper fuse is a) blown and b) 10A not 15A So... cheap answer yippee No doubt previous owner considered 10A plenty for that service, and normally, yes. Today's lessons: check the easy stuff first .. and in general, follow Land Rover manual...  Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz
