Air filter
Hi guys

I got my ITG foam air filter. Of course I could not import the spray (?) oil to replace after washing. Would a std engine oil do it?

thanks

Do you have an official K & N importer over there? If so that oil would do I would think! Alternatively e-mail ITG they may be able to advise! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Dont use engine oil - it should be the correct oil, its not really an oil like that Mike

The bit it still on the sealed bag, but the oil looks quite thick actually. Puma 110" SW

MK,
Aerosol cans can be shipped by air but they would have to be IATA packed as they are classed as dangerous goods. If you want the ITG spay it can be done but i would suggest getting a few other bit to ship at the same time as the spay alone would be expensive.

I think it is more of a 'machine oil' rather than engine oil thinner and with not so much viscosity. Jay's idea about about shipping by air seems a reasonable resolution. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I would agree that its more akin to machine oil than engine oil - but the genuine K&N is different still...im not talking about the fact its red Rolling with laughter Mike

Do you reckon WD40 would do the trick?
(I do - but then what do I know) I presume its more the fabric not the oil that does the filtering?

I was adviced to use any air filter oil, such as for dirtbikes (sticky and thick). WD40 is too thin and would hurt your maf sensor Puma 110" SW

So what your saying is the bag is more oiled than the filter Question Laughing

That was beginning of July?

Has it sat in the bag at home for three and a half months? It's only a ten minute fit! Fit it and worry about the relube in a couple of years when and if it needs doing!

If need be i'll source some for you and/or enquire about shipping it to you if it's possible by boat! There must be some way of getting you some???

What about Opie can they not help you out or advise? PM them!

ummmm I invite you to run an engine oil test. In my case I do not drive it on foggy&wet tarmac roads for going to the mall, so I have to be careful about the air filter issue. Puma 110" SW
