Although vented are proven to be better it is probably not worth the cost to the average user (not towing up and down dale),however vented calipers are cheaper than non vented

you used to be able to buy spacers to fit in your solid disc caliper to allow to fit vented discs , I done it on my 200tdi ,
yes they will be better cooled but its if you need the better cooling if you tow a lot or use very hilly roads then possible yes |

I did it to my 90, less brake fade with spirited driving, i.e braking feel lasts longer. ideal when towing too
Mine now runs a full 110 spec setup with stainless braided hoses and DOT 5.1 fluid, now stops as well as it goes without breaking the bank ![]() 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Ironically I don't tow as much, and do more motorway miles.but I have noticed a few times some brake fade whilst negotiating consecutive roundabouts, in a ring road dual carriageway scenario. Overhaul would be the optimum time to replace as genuine calipers and disks are around the £400 mark.

I didn't have them fitted last time no, I must say it does stop well for all standard parts
![]() I think the 1.2 tbox is well worth it, makes it much more relaxing to drive quicker ![]() ![]() 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Brake fade with standard discs is an issue, quite a frightening one too.
![]() Pads are good but do get hot when used heavily I.e. Very large decents / steep and then fade. |

I think the braided hoses and DOT 5.1 fluid helps too, although I did it all at once so it was a bit of a transformation. well worth it in my opinion

Fluid will be done as a matter of coarse, but the only braided hoses I can find at the mo are shugarpart ones with blue wrappers
