Fuel filter draining
I hope someone may be able to help.

I attempted to change the fuel filter earlier today on my TD5 and following the direction of the forums insofar as loosening the drain plug to drain the contents.

I've filled one or those green fuel carriers (ones you get from petrol station) and it doesn't seem that the flow is lessening. Am I doing something wrong? The tank is 90% full.

Have never had that happen ! I don't usually drain mine I just unscrew it and fill the new one up and screw it on. I usually buy a new drain screw as they have a habit of shearing off when you do it up.

As far as I know there is a one way valve in the filter head,you may have a problem with that. 2005 Td5 90 XS

Thanks for replying.

When you unscrew it, presumably there's quite a bit of fuel spillage. Is it just a case of being quick to reduce the amount of loss? Defender Virgin - go gentle with me!

No I don't get any fuel running out of the filter head once the filter is removed. If this is what you are getting I would be inclined to get the new filter filled with fuel and ready to fit and swap it over quickly then do the purge sequence and try and restart engine,hopefully there will be no air in the system.

I think you May have problem with your filter head. 2005 Td5 90 XS
