I have to say, if I was doing it again, I wouldn't bother taking the old shocks out of the existing turrets, I would buy galavanized turrets and a stainless ring and nuts....then it's done for good...
Gwyn Lewis's galv turrets look good, and he also has turret ring kits... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

I have followed the procedure on a 2014my, it was slightly easier because the fixing screw under the air box was not installed
![]() If you have air con the near side is a bit tricky to remove, carefully move the pipes to create room to remove the turret. Lubricated the turrets with AC90 for added protection and re fitted, took a couple of hours to do both. Very happy with ride improvement. I know what you mean about the inner wing, it sits on top of the turret slightly and makes the turret difficult to remove, I did it today. I did one side with the help of a second pair of hands above the shock/turret while I prized the inner wing inwards with a large screwdriver. The other side needed the turret ring to be changed anyway because one nut sheared, tbh it's probably easier to do it by taking the spring out, takes 10 mins rather than sweating and trying to force the turret in place.
