Land Rover Tow Balls
My Defender was fitted at the dealer with a LR drop plate and tow ball. Is the LR tow ball compatible with ALKO stabilisers, or do I need to change it for an ALKO compatible one?

Thanks

Tony

Ideally you need the Alko ball which has a longer neck to fit the Alko hitch with the stabiliser fitment. Thumbs Up LANDYWATCH

Try it.
Mine had an OE towball fitted. Takes out Alko hitch on the caravan easily.

The LR ball is not designed to be Al-Ko compatible and under some extremes of articulation the coupling can bind on the ball. A genuine Al-Ko ball only costs £26.95 (I bought one this afternoon) and is cheap compared the the cost of repairing a damaged coupling.

not a answer or help

we had a transit in during the week where the tow ball itself only had one bolt in it and that was loose allowing the ball to twist round ,, but still had a trailer (not a small one either ) on it when they pulled up and asked if it was ok to use !!!!.

Thanks all, a mixed response then, but as an ALKO unit is not that expensive then it looks like that is the way to go.

Thanks all
