and don't forget to wipe surfaces with thinners to get them super-duper sticky
I forgot to do this once with some new (should have been clean) car trim and after spending a lot of time and money bonding it, it disappeared somewhere along the A12 near Witham Good luck But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Mal - Thank-you.
Matt - Don't worry I will, isopropyl alcohol works well once it's evaporated. ____/π¬π§πΊπΈ\____ _//*β½οΈπ’οΈβοΈπ§°*\\_ |

As aircraft components are put together with adhesive tapes - sticking a number plate onto a Defender is no big deal. But make sure the surfaces are correctly prepared (cleaned) including the ambient air temperature being above freezing.

Received the tape from Mal today. (cheers mate)
As you can see below the rubbish before I had where the plate was coming away and only hanging on from the top. It's only been on for a few months and it was put on in the correct procedure I.e. Clean and dry. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Cleaned up everything with some isopropyl alcohol on the 90 and the plate, then added the tape to the plate slightly warmed up. Click image to enlarge Warmed up the bodywork, plate and adhesive and stuck it on nicely. Click image to enlarge Job jobbed and should stay put now at least! ____/π¬π§πΊπΈ\____ _//*β½οΈπ’οΈβοΈπ§°*\\_ |

If it's got "3M" on it, you know it will stick - I guess they've got the patents 'cos nothing else is as good
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I've used the Signam adhesive strips on my front and rear plates. There was a pack in with the plates when I got them, and I bought another pack for a couple of quid from Halfords. (Didn't want to drill the plates or the new bumper!)
No issues as yet, but they've only been on a little while... 110 XS TD5 |

Please be aware that 3M (and other manufacturers) produce double sided tapes with adhesive coatings in differing grades. They will all stick to some degree - but some are very high strength and permanent and some are not - they are formulated to be easy to remove/come off under certain conditions - some can even be re-positioned if you don't get the application right first time (i.e. squinty). The adhesives can also specified to suit a particular surface such as painted steel, anodised aluminium and even plasterboard. For those of you who are unsure about the strength of these tapes - next time you are flying - key components of your aircraft will probably be bonded together using this technology. You can also get a variant with 'Velcro' - should you have a need to remove components (for example in an off-road environment). |

As I'm forever swapping vehicles I use Velcro on the Caravan and trailer and have never had a problem with the plates coming off.

Heavy duty Velcro for me - the really wide stuff. I use front and back so I can reposition the plates when I'm offroading - I move the front plate from the bumper to the roofrack as I've lost them off the front in the past. 2013 Aintree Green 110 Station Wagon SX
