Cargo Barrier / Dog Guard
Seen a few of you have fitted these recently.

I need to get one now that our mutt is growing out of the chewing stuff phase and I might trust him in the back of the truck and leave the dog cage at home.

Obviously nobody has paid full price so where did you get them and how much?

Part number I'm after is LR006447 and google doesn't offer much more than Duckworths.

Cheers,
Chunk

Does anyone have one fitted to a 90, if so does it restrict the passengers in the back at all with legroom etc, some pic's of one would be great, the guard that is not the passengers Laughing Cogito ergo sum

In the 110 it definitely restricts the rear passengers. I'm pretty short but I'd not want to ride in it for anything longer than 15 mins.

You'll be slightly better off in a 90 (with the longer load bay) but my guess from memory is that you lose around 4" One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

this was mine fitted in the 90,

has anyone fitted the 90 rack into the 110, is it just a matter of a new bracket system. not fussed that it has no trap draw in the bottom guard... Very Happy

if not, then this one likley for sale...

If you can figure out a new set of brackets then I would imagine it would fit... maybe.

However, all of the attaching brackets (and there are quite a few) are going to be different. I also wonder whether it sits in a different place. The one in the 110 nestles into the window recesses (on a CSW). If you don't have that trim then I guess it just butts up against the sides but I suspect you'll end up mucking about for ages, getting frustrated and then buying a definite 110 model (and then spend ages mucking about trying to get that one to fit!). One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Have you considered getting a dog harness and attaching it to one of the rear seatbelts?

Cheaper and less fiddly to fit than a guard.

It's what I did until our hound got out of the chewing phase

Oh, and the genuine article does not fit without some butchery of the brackets!

Rather dissapointed to find that I fitted the brackets on my 110, measured the distance between and this was 10mm smaller than the width of the guard. So be prepared to elongate the holes in the fixing brackets!

Fitted gen-u-wine dog guard tonight after work, took about 2 hours all told.

Went on great, after reading the faff some of you have had I was pleasantly surprised - and no damage to myself!

Thanks to The Large One on the Disco3 forum for sorting me out with a tidy discount, and Willy for the tip.

Nice one Thumbs Up

Just be careful you don't thread or round off those crappy little Allen bolts at the base Rolling Eyes If I were you, I'd just replace them straight away with proper high strength steel bolts (you can stick with the captive nuts). You'll then be able to use a proper spanner rather than a soft Allen key Thumbs Up

Trust me - the alternative is very frustrating Big Cry One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

I got a guard built in to the deal on my Puma 90 and they tried to fit the guard from a TD5 90 and it would only fit if the window surround mouldings were removed. I went ballistic when i went to pick up a brand new Defender with metal sides exposed and the TD5 guard in place... I rejected the car untill correct Puma guard was sent and fitted and even then all the poppers were not replaced. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..
