Ok Fitting a nato hitch high up but also interchangable with the standard tow bracket??

I can lose the towbar, didn't ask for it anyway!

I need t removeable nato hitch / drop plate set up i think.

Any off the shelf options?

UPDATE. found this item http://www.extreme4x4.co.uk/acatalog/copy_...WBARS.html

and

http://www.extreme4x4.co.uk/acatalog/QUICK...EIVER.html

Yeah, the Dixon Bate adjustable tow bar as per the picture you posted earlier. Just fit each of your chosen hitches to separate sliders.

I'm pretty sure that the 2 inch square receivers aren't type-approved for post '98 vehicles, Darren

don't have the adjustable one Big Cry i have the standard LR tow bar like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/genuine-land-rov...500wt_1361

so i'd rather ditch the lot and start a fresh with a high up removeable one.

How would i find out about type approval? got a 1 tonne trailer so needs to be fit for purpose

The Dixon Bate one is a complete set-up and replaces the standard tow bar. You then buy extra sliders for each tow hitch that you need.

Have a look HERE.

Only type-approved tow bars are legal to use on vehicles first registered from 1998 onwards. The 2 inch receiver hasn't, to the best of my knowledge, been type-approved and neither has the Southdown type ones that form part of a tank guard. Ones that have been type-approved should be marked and, I'd expect, advertised as such. Darren

The receiver hitch isn't approved for post 2007 models. The best option is to use the Landrover adjustable tow bar and if you're going to buy a new one I'd go down that route.

The other option is to bolt a slider to your current tow bar so you can swop them easily.

Something like this.

Yes you can - the holes are threaded and in the right place but I would use a towbar for a stronger solution. John

the issue is a towbars to low, a adjustable towbars to low as the rapier trailer hitch is spot on for bolting to xmember?

Don't simply bolt a NATO pintle directly to the cross-member on a TD5 or Puma, the cross-member isn't strong enough and you risk bending it. There is a genuine reinforcing plate for the job and they crop up quite often online or on eBay.

However the best option is the DB slider arrangement as illustrated earlier in the thread, since this is stronger still.

Hi Greeni,

Sorry to dig up an old post but does your friend still have sankey chassis. Thanks
