110 Double Cab TD5 Anti Roll Bar
Hi All,
Hoping some of you can give me some advice on fitting anti-roll bars.

My 110 county double cab currently has no anti-roll bars fitted.

I have done some performance mods: remap, intercooler, decat etc and I would like to now improve the way it handles on the road. (I dont do much 'offroading' other than crossing the odd muddy field from time to time)

What are the options? I don't particularly want to lower (or raise) the height of the vehicle...I just want to stop it rolling quite so much - but I dont want to make the ride any harsher than it is already.

Is fitting anti-roll bars front & back the answer (If so, which ones? Uprated / Standard)
or is there another option that I should look at.
Thanks,
Tom

I brought a full terrafirma anti rool bar kit, this is normally where you already have them and you want them stiffer so you will have to buy all the bushes and chassis clamps seperately. It has made an unbelieveble difference, with my new slick tyres running on 18 boosts, i can handle it like a golf gti. I have also lowered mine and got stiffer springs so that helps as well, but fitting a full kit of anti roll bars is the best option, dont gor for a cheap 'complete set' from paddock or anywhere like that coz i did at first, and on the first axel twist, the rear bbent like a bloody banana. Will set you back about £600 qwid and takes about 2/3 hours to fit but will transform the ride and cornering of your landy.

In my opinion - yes

A good starting point is a pair of standard anti roll bars with uprated mounts. If you decide that you still want more roll control, then I would fit an uprated rear one (25.4mm). Again with uprated mounts.

Standard bars make a good difference on a none roll bar equipped Defender, but a uprated rear one makes it better again. However, it will limit articulation if used off road.

I can supply all parts if needed. IRB

Is there any difference between Discovery 1 and Defender anti-roll bars? I have heard you can simply fit D1 roll bars to a Defender...

Won't the chassis rails be further apart (wider) on a D1 than a Defender?

D1 axles fit onto a defender, and vica versa, so I'd say not.

I've got an ex disco1 front A/R bar on my 90.... bolted straight on.

Any idea on what these upgraded mounts are or what they look like?

Still going to fit ARBs to the "Miffster", 2002 110...

Hi Tom, Did you fit an ARB set in the end? if so what did you go for? And was it worth it?

Hi Geobloke

Yes, I bought a complete kit with polyurethane bushes from Paddock - STC8156AAPY
Cost £168 incl vat & delivery
Fitted them myself very easily...took a couple of hours..

I noticed straight away after fitting them that there was much less roll when cornering and that it now turns in to corners more precisely. The ride over bumps has not stiffened as far as I can tell.

I am pleased with results and I think it is well worth doing. I dont do much off roading so I am not too bothered if there is slightly less axle articulation as a result of fitting these.

Hope that helps!

Tom

Superb thank you Tom for the update. I like you am not an "extreme" off roader, although I do enjoy green laning and overlanding my 110. At the moment I have Gwyn Lewis' extreme suspension kit on the 110 and as good as that is and it is superb it is just not what I need anymore. So I am going to return the vehicle to standard height springs, uprated shocks (probably Bilstein, OME or Koni) and of course a set of ARBs. With all the gear in the back the 110 leans quite a lot in the corners although not dangerously. When driving the mountain roads of the Pyrenees a little extra stiffness in the corners would have been nice... Wink
