Thanks Nidge - shame successful Defender purchasing seems to involve so much luck! Rolling Eyes

I'll be able to contribute to the mpg thread in a week or so.

Hope the Convict 110 serves it's time well for you, one_iota!

Well have had my independent LR specialist do so more leg work for me and he now believes that there is a problem with mine - the switch in the common rail unit , common on transits I believe. Land rover uk are aware there is a problem but just have to convince the dealer here there is something up !

Anyone else aware of any such problem? Runs odd sometimes from cold and get a flat spot sometimes around 2000 revs.

Mine just had the common rail system replaced. Got what I thought was a spurious engine warning light with a momentary loss of power then all fine. Took it straight to the dealer and they plugged in, recorded the fault, sent it to LR, got the word back - change the common rail.

I haven't noticed anything untoward in my fuel economy (28mpg consistenly since new). But then again, I haven't used a full tank since they did the job to know if there's any improvement. I was also getting some oddness just after start-up, about 60 seconds after moving off there would be a peculiar revving then fine. Again, I haven't noticed this happening since the work was done but it wasn't all that often. 2007 Defender 110

Solmanic seams I am having the same problem as you, sounds like its running on 3 cylinders for a few seconds on start up from cold and then runs fine . Did you notice any flat spots around 2000 revs ?

Glad you got yours sorted.

Nidge.

No - my funny engine revs thing was not like a mis-fire at all. It was as if the clutch was disengaged and the engine seemed to over-rev for a few seconds (but unlike the gear-change, revving issue reported elsewhere).

Never noticed a flat spot. There was only the momentary loss of power the day the engine light came on then everything went back to normal. I couldn't tell you what revs it was at because it only happened once. 2007 Defender 110
