2012 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 SW Orkney Grey

I have the setup all done, now am very uncomfortable with the clearance of the door vs the ladder. When I did the alignment, I was making sure the top left don't protrude out of the contoured roof. But now when the rear door opens, it clears the ladder by just less than 1cm, which means opening or closing doors will snap any finger holding the vertical rail of the ladder, this is especially for kids or people who don't know your vehicle. How far do you all align horizontally? I have a good mind to let the top protrude out, and drill another 2 holes on the ladder, not keen to have 4 holes on the bodywork.
