Wiring diagram challenge
Anybody solve this one (with relays and fuses)

1 12v Power outlet
2 x Batteries
1 on off on rocker switch

I want to be able to switch the outlet between the batteries Question (no common earth)
Pos 1 Switch (on) = Outlet connected to Bat 1
Pos 2 Switch (off) = Outlet not connected
Pos 3 Switch (on) = Outlet connected to Bat 2

DPDT (Double Pole Double Throw) relay. Position 1 to one coil, position 3 to other job jobbed. Available from RS components. Depends on what you are supplying and expected current draw etc. Fuse both the relay coils and the relay feeds as well as the 12 volt power outlet. Can't give ratings as information above is too scant.

Relays below in link are up to 10 amps, any more current draw and you'll have to go heavier duty.

I was going to mention something about a Relay but thought I'd better keep quiet and recommend K9F in case I give some wrong info. Whistle

You could use one of these.

use one output for 1 st battery and instead of connecting to a fridge use the second outlet to the 2nd battery
Place simple switch in line to switch on and off.

why no common earth ?

what sort of current/amps are you thinking of running thru? (20amps you should be thinking of adding a relay)

Fuses are a good idea too

Jamie will be along with a wiring diagram shortly Thumbs Up

I'm sure we should throw in the ability to run them in 24v configuration also Wink

How are they charged?
