i had a simlar problem, did you clean out and change the fuel in the fuel tank. my td5 was brand new but had a problem where it would run ok for about five miles or so and then it would just cut out. land rover changed the fuel pump to no avail, and they put it down to dirty fuel, un convinced i took the fuel pump out and it looked ok but on closer inspection there was a film of cotton like fibres clogging the gause on the bottom of the pump. so i cleaned out the whole tank and pump, replaced whith new fuel and filter and it has been fine since. i recon land rover had not cleaned the tank when it was assembled new.
hope this helps, regards, jim.

Turn ignition on press and release the accelerator 5 times. This tells the ecu to keep the pump running constantly. Normally the pump will stop pumping after 20 seconds. Leave the car with the pump running for a while. Eventually you will hear the pump sound change as the air is cleared from the system.

When you press the pedal 5 times it instructs the ecu to pump fuel for 45 seconds, you may need to repeat it a couple of times if you wish to bleed for longer than 45 seconds.

From my old site: http://www.web-rover.co.uk/nav.php?p=td5kb/fuelpurge

My 1999 ECU runs the pump for 3 or 4 minutes, may have changed for later models Smile

You must have a weird/edited ecu map then because inside the mapping stratgies there is this info set in stone unless changed by a tuner or LR special vehicles
only 2 different types 30 seconds and 45 seconds.

fp_cycle_times 6.0000 Times
fp_off_time 5.0000 Sec
fp_on_time 30.000 Sec
fp_pedal_presses_req 5.0000 presses
fp_pedal_prs_time 10.000 Sec
fp_prime_time 30.000 Sec

...............................................

fp_cycle_times 6.0000 Times
fp_off_time 5.0000 Sec
fp_on_time 30.000 Sec
fp_pedal_presses_req 5.0000 presses
fp_pedal_prs_time 10.000 Sec
fp_prime_time 45.000 Sec

Odd, i cant explane it then MSB183 is normaly 45 seconds acording to the software i see.
may be there is a odd version available that ive not seen in the past.

Do you still have this car now ?

Im looking at the Cruise options for the MSB owners that cant have in on there defenders without changing ecu's to the NNN flash type.
