Advice replacing rear brake discs and pads
Hi

My rear brakes are due for replacement on my Td5 90.

Is there an obvious upgrade I can do? Do 110 discs fit and offer superior performance? Any brand to use or avoid? Are the latest puma parts the same as Td5?

Many thanks

Other than 'performance' disks/ pads there isn't much you can do without huge work. Tdi, Td5 and puma are the same (just make sure it is for ABS if you have it).

110 rear brakes are the same as 90 other than that they are a different offset so WON'T fit.

I've just upgraded all four discs to EBC drilled and grooved with Greenstuff pads. Haven't had to use them in an emergency yet but I've noticed they don't fade like the standard set up did. Smile

Thanks for the info.

Had a quick look and there appears to be vented or solid or drilled and grooved.

I take it solid is standard? What's the preference over vented or drilled etc?

Thanks

You can fit later 110 rear brakes as they use the rover axle instead of the Salisbury but you will need discs pads and calipers as the disc is bigger

Did not think you could get rear vented discs?

But I have just replaced all my callipers, changed the front from solid to vented, and fitted grooved and drilled discs. At the moment AP callipers are on special offer at paddocks. Thumbs Up

Nah, the rears are solid. The original front discs were vented Smile

I thought there was a difference between 110 & 90 (maybe rears only?) where 110 are vented all round & 90 aren't. Not sure if 110 rears would fit but swapping out solid ones might be seen as a performance upgrade...

I have just replaced rear pads with OEM Britpart XD kit and they are excellent. No noise and braking is also not bad at all.
