I have just sent a payment but to the wrong email address
 so now someone who i dont even know has quite a big lump of money sitting in there paypal. I have disputed the payment and have contacted the person i sent it too by mistake, im also going to phone paypal tommorow morning as there shut now. Any one who can shed some light of what will happen, how long it takes for the money to go back in etc cheers  CSK Automotive

IFAIK if you open a dispute online, the money is frozen while PayPal investigate. Bad news is it will take a while to get the cash back.
I had a dispute with a banner maker which was opened roundabout feb 14th but case was not closed and my money refunded till march 3rd. Hope you get the cash back soon - look on the bright side it's Friday night they might be out on the raz and not picking up emails. Barbara |

Cheers Barbara, its a right pain. I have sent the person an email to the address i sent the money to to explain what has happened so hopefully there legit and will refund it before paypal get on the case as it will be much quicker and smoother then  CSK Automotive

If the recipient doesn't accept the money after a few weeks it will automatically return to you. I refunded someone a few quid for postage and got it back. Maybe that'll happen with you if they're not expecting a payment (or have a paypal account).

thats what it was mate  I had to send a few payments over tonight and i always triple check before sending but missed one letter out CSK Automotive

I think the majority of law abiding decent people would either not accept it or if they did accept it send it straight back. I would. If not PayPal will sort it for you. Eventually ____\We|Will|Win/___

Go into Paypal and pull up your transactions.
Find the wrong payment and, hopefully, there will be a 'cancel' icon against it. If there is hit it and follow the instructions. If the money has been already been claimed get onto PP ASAP.
