2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Stornoway Grey

Just a thought: Can I install an ABS-TC in a 08 MY Defender?

Just that, and to do not hijack the previous post.

It is possible to install as a kit the ABS-TC package in a 08 MY without it?
Some idea about the cost?

I think it is possible but you need at least other axles or just the speeds sensor parts and ECU's and some new cables. You might have to tell the software that you installed it and I don't think a LR dealer will help you with that part.
It might be cheaper to buy one with ABS and TC. Roel

It's only electrical, no need for new axles

Going with the defender normally, the wiring is also probably already there

I seem to recall someone investigating this before and it was prohibitively expensive. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

I don't think you will have wheel speed sensors on a none ABS vehicle. At least you don't have that on a none ABS TD5. Roel

Just make silly noises, stamp on and off the brake and install a flashing led light, it's much cheaper and has the same effect.

Not really the same effect! and you cant beat ABS/TC and you cant manually simulate it to the same efficiency or effectiveness.

You will need from memory:
Sensors
Wiring
ABS/TC ECU
Different Hubs
Different Brake disc's (maybe also callipers and pads i cant remember)
Modulator
Pipes Mike

Ed,it would prob cost less to swop your truck for a new one with ABS/TC. 2.4 90 XS

a real offroader work better WITHOUT!!!!!

Ignoring the fact that Hill descent is based on ABS and off road advice in the handbook says the onlly abs equipped vehicles are recommended to brake on decent

Sorry, I prefer lsd diff not the brake

if someoune want Hll descent, ABS, DSTC .... please chose a X5 or a Q5

have you never drove in a very icy steep reduction with abs....

The best would be to have both options i.e. be able to choose when you want traction control, hill descent etc. Then turn them off when you don't. The Hill descent works great in our freelander 1 which doesn't have a low range box, can't stop but at least you can steer :rolllaugh hill descent was also usefull on the corpulent D3.
and you can't deny that traction control on the D3 is very good.

If you haven't fitted a locker or LSD then I suppose ABS Traction etc will be useful on occasions, just a shame we can't decide for ourselves when we want to use it.
