Goodwinch (aircon) winch bumper
Does anyone happen to have one of these? If so, and you have a steering guard, does the SG need to be modified to fit or not? if not, what's the make/model of steering guard you have? I've just taken off my SG because the brackets need grinding out to fit and frankly it's going to weaken the guard significantly so I need a new one.

Thanks John but perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I already have one, my normal steering guard won't fit with it unless I grind out the SG brackets. I want a new steering guard which will fit with it without modding.

Sorry for digging this old thread up BigMike. But am having similar problem.

What steering guard (if any) did you end up with?

I honestly can't remember, Rakthi. I sold the 90 in Sep 2011.

Was worth a try ... Thanks for answering.

Maybe one of the local metal guys can figure something out.

Too bad a GW bumper can't be made to fit that doesn't foul/isn't fouled by a steering guard, given that vehicles that use winches are on the rough more... Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

Got me a cheap one and will see what needs to be done to alter it so it works with the GW bumper.

SInce they are all basically the same I can then work out from there how to go. If it is too involved, will take it to one of the local welders and have him make me one. At least he will have a template with the right dimensions for the bolt holes. Won't be laser cut etc. but it sure will do the job..

Would like to have one by the start of the rainy season, some tracks here turn to soapy sludge and there are lots of small to medium sized boulders hidden between the ruts.

@ jst - had read about Southdown fitting with the GW bumper, but Southdown sold that part of their business to Allmakes ... no clue now where to get one now. The "Shadow" ones offered by FirstFour seem similar. So will keep that in mind.

@ Pete - Thanks for that link. Will see if I can get one fabricated/adapted locally. If they can't, will mail those guys.

Thanks guys! Appreciate the help! Sometimes wished I was not so far away. So much easier to get stuff.

Update

The budget steering guard (Part Number - FFSGBDEF) sold by First Four fitted without too many complications.

Had to cut off the recovery eye of the right hand side support so I could get the bolt through. Strangely enough the left side fitted without this modification but it was a close fit.

The actual plate itself just misses the bolts that hold in the winch itself and in effect almost making it impossible to unbolt the winch without removing the steering guard.

I'll leave it on for now and see how it holds up.
