Number Plate positioning: help needed!
Hi all,

I've got a bit of a problem with mounting my number plate. I've got a First Four tubular winch bumper with A-Bar, complete with spotlights. Looks great, but isn't quite so good at allowing a number plate to be fitted! I can't even mount it on a roof rack because I haven't got one!

So, I've got a few positions in mind, and it would be much appreciated if I could have some feedback as to which you feel looks the best (hence the poll) Very Happy

If you have any other suggestions, please feel free to share them Thumbs Up

Cheers,

None of the above. I'm afraid the only choice is to buy an expensive roof rack and mount it to the front.
Sorry to be a pain.
Lovely truck though!

I'm with Thud... none look like they belong.

Have you thought about getting a sticker one....... not 100% legal but no one picks you up for it. Or maybe put clips on the back of the square one so it can be clipped onto the roller fairlead when you aren't winching (but then could be stolen quite easily.

Rectangular plate, on grille above A-Bar: looks best to me, not sure of any legalities as far as positioning though.

Plus to stop it rattling about a heavy ole roof tent will have to be applied. Thumbs Up

This one although the positioning is correct the angle of the plate should be flat and nor facing towards the ground.
Here's mine:

(Plates covered but you get the idea anyway.)

^^^^ You can see the brackets with the two Allen cap head bolts on.

I wouldn't have this if I was you as the bottom of the plate is partly obstructed by the top of the A bar which could trigger ANPR and so on.

My two pence worth anyway.

Thud: I can see this is going to cost me a lot of money Laughing Roof rack, roof tent.... Whistle

Steve: Thanks for that, I remembered that I had some of those brackets buried somewhere! Just nipped out and tried them (I'm assuring that they're held on by the fairlead?) but it won't work Big Cry My fairlead bolts are too big to fit through the brackets Confused An engine to TDi for!

This is the sort of thing I mean:

http://4x4icon.com/offroad/winch2/index.htm

Much easier if you have a smaller numberplate. e.g. Jap import size.

This is one reason why I wouldnt have one of these bumpers. Design not been thought through properly.

Picture one looks the best of the lot though.

GUM (Pete) See the two holes in the red rock guard (smaller ones) you can then see just above that two red Alu brackets this is my number plate brackets.
Appreciate in this position for you it wouldn't work with the roller fairhead above BUT reverse it so that insted of the plate being above the bracket mounting hang the plate below instead. Basically as you see mine except the opposite way up so the plate will be more or less where the rock guard is.

And there's nothing wrong with these bumpers the plate has to be positioned somewhere what ever bumper you use. Certainly not a fan of off set one's. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___

Ah yeah sorry I missed that. Embarassed Embarassed

You could easily make some Alu brackets if you have some of the right size and bend to shape and drill or contact FF and I'm sure they'll sort you out for a few quid. Thumbs Up
