I think Id fit a couple of those springy pipe type clips like flourescent tubes are held in by, fit them to the back of the number plate so it clips to the fair lead and then remove the plate when using the winch. Ps I like the oblong one DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

How about this
![]() Click image to enlarge It's been through a mot with it and haven't been stopped at all for it also stays a little bit cleaner if you've been playing in the mud but its not everyone's cup of tea. ^^^^ AFAIK they've been phased out the stick on type as being illegal. Yet again one of those is it or isn't it legal.

I'm still not 100% sure but my old boss who had a mot centre said that was better than where I had it inside the screen just have to see if it causes any problems

Stoney- I had considered a stick on plate, but I e-mailed the local DVLA office to confirm the legality of them, and this was their response:
Which is a shame, as I could have made one myself as our number plate printer here has the capability to do so, just not legally! ![]() "Land Rover- Proudly turning drivers into mechanics since 1948" ![]() |

But the bumper is in the grey area of the law anyway..... or is it E stamped?
It seems that 99.9% of the powers to be will be happy with someone who has a visible stick on plate rather than a half covered proper one. I had a stick on one for 2 years and passed an MOT and the German (TUV) equivalent without a problem. Never got pulled and didn't even get asked about it when caught speeding. My only thoughts/ concerns about the number plate being mounted under the winch on brackets is that it will sit low and forward which will reduce your approach angle and it will be the first thing that gets hit/ damaged- therefore thepossibility of driving home without one at all. How about a single roof bar at the front on which to mount the plate? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender
