Half width dog/load guard?
Anyone know if there are any half(ish) width dog guards available?

I've got a full size one, but often I want to put say a long length of timber inside, and not on the roof. But obviously my dog guard restricts. I need the dog guard to protect my child who sits behind drivers seat from anything flying around in the back.

My Defender is a 300tdi, but any suppliers for the puma would be a good starting point for me.

Cheers.

If you are talking about half height (just the top part) here's how I did it using a standard two part kit. http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic13077....=dog+guard You could probably do that with a 300tdi one, although I seem to recall it was either bulk head fixing or a full size all in one which you'd need to chop.

Not sure what you'd be able to fix a 1/2 width one to. If you have a bulk head you could use one of those lengthwise dividers and chop a full width in half, but might be a bit of a bodge unless you metal work skills are far better then mine!

Not a geat deal of help really but I'm thinking 1/2 height which is probably not what you want when you say 1/2 width.

How about taking a full size one, and modifying it, making removable sections?

A full width one with a "gate" modification seems a fairly easy option. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

Exactly what i did with the full guard for the Disco. Puma 110 SW guard from Land Rover has a drop-down section where the middle seat is if that helps?

I suspect that this isn't quite what you're after either but I'll offer it anyway just in case: I made a bulkhead for behind the 2nd row seats in my station wagon and then mounted a half-height guard intended for one with a bulkhead behind the front seats on top. This top part can be removed very easily if I need to carry something longer, and the bulkhead itself can also be taken out by undoing four bolts that fit to existing threaded inserts.

Thanks for the replies.

I'd really like to be able to put my bike inside without having to remove a wheel. If one end of the guard was missing then i could fold down one of the end 2nd row seats and the bike would fit down one side of the 110

I guess for a strong fitting, a half width wouldn't work? I might have to butcher my full size guard but it seems a shame really.
