Okay, the Defender may not win many style/design awards, but it’s certainly iconic, utilitarian and unique(ish).
What about some automotive styling disasters? Expensive cars (division 1 or 2) which seem to be modelled on cheapie division 4 cars... IMO, two that stand out most are: The Porsche Ceyanne (rear view)...£70k worth: Click image to enlarge Hyundi Santa Fe (4pence worth): Whilst the Porker’s quite attractive from the front, why design a £70k piece of German Engineering to look like a two-bob bit of Korean awefulness? And The new Toyota Click image to enlarge Does anyone else think it looks like this: Click image to enlarge Again…why design an expensive car that looks like a cheapie one? I must be bored at work to think of this! Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

I was following a car the other day and the girlfriend was "Eurgh, look at that, it's disgusting". I pointed out that it is a car she does actually like quite a lot:
Click image to enlarge She didn't believe me until we got up close and she saw the badge on the back. She still loves the look of the front but the back looks like the designer kept on going until it was too small and then went a bit smaller. Another reaction we both provide when travelling is a vomiting sound whenever we see a mini 4x4. Agoain the girlfriend likes the normal mini but thinks the 4x4 version is just puke!! One last one for now..... I see one of these every now and then... makes me cringe at the fact that someone somewhere actually thought it looks good: Glyn |

One of them Porkers pushed past me on my mountain bike a while back. Glancing I had assumed it was a hyundi. 2 mins later he was stopped at lights, was tempted to run my brake lever down his paint until i realised it was a porker not a hyundi. Would have felt guilty damaging a porker Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

There are some seriously ugly cars out there are the moment. Most Mercedes seem to be okay, but i can't think of any other brand (well, Landrover obviously) that make me think "hmmm, rather fancy one of those". They all look they are trying to be background pieces in a science-fiction film. I like sci-fi, but not these cars...at least with a Defender there is no pretence. 2011 110 USW
