Speedo goes mad..
When I first start up my TD5, the speedometer needle shoots up to about 70mph, despite me not going anywhere! It soon returns to normal, and works normally and drives fine.

Any ideas? 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Try running new earth direct from battery to ECU mount, and possibly to bulkhead.

mine did this, issue was water ingress into the 3 wire connector to the sender on the T box. Cheers

Mine did it once a few weeks back too - quite plausible that was water, we had a lot of it at the time! As an aside - does any one else's Td5 fuel gauge drop to zero then come back up again on startup? Noticed mine does it, but not sure if it always has done. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

Sometimes my fuel gauge drops to zero on start up. Probably 1 in 20 or 30 starts.

Weak battery. Change a new fresh battery fully charged and it goes away. I've had this on my 90 n a friend's 110 whose battery was on the way out. This is followed by the fuel gauge dropping to empty before returning to where it should be after starting. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At �125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island.
