I just bought one to put on my bike as I take it to London quite often, so I'll let you know when it's up and running.

Bought one of the TK102B cheap and cheerful trackers a couple of weeks back for various portable applications that I have in mind.
Initial reaction was 'hmmm.... it certainly looks/feels cheap', but then it is only £40 and the features on it mirror many of the more expensive systems. There are some functions on it that I can't say I will need or indeed have yet to work out how to actually make the unit do it but all in all... its not half bad. PAYG sim concept is fine for my portable application ideas but I think if you were considering a permanent vehicle fitting, then a cheap contract sim is the way forward, together with a 12v hardwire kit. My biggest concern with it is one of longevity, in so much as how long would it last if it was permanently squirreled away in a truck.... For about the price of 3 of these units, you can buy a Skytag for example and their basic monthly monitoring is about the same as a cheap contract sim.... Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. |

I have the Skytag unit and I am very impressed with it. As soon as the local garage disconnected the battery I had a text and email from them asking if everything was ok. They also do a monthly battery and monitoring test to make sure the unit is still functioning correctly, which I receive an email telling me the results. Because I live away I also have a Perimeter set up around its parked position so that if it moves outside of this position I also get a text and email. This costs £1 per day, which I think is a small amount of money for complete piece of mind. There are also various other options available including a nightsafe which activates between certain hours and again if your vehicle moves between these hours you can be given a phone call, sent a text and receive an email.
Regards, Mark |

I have just been googling around for Skytag, and noticed that if you join Landy Watch, you can obtain a code allowing 50% discount for the skytag unit - ergo, now £125 earth pounds. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

If I had a tracker fitted, I certainly wouldn't admit it on a public forum.

Anyone experience of the Visionaire GPS vehicle tracking system:
http://www.landywatch.co.uk/index.php/secu...-tracking/ Seems better value than the Skytag when you take annual subscription costs into account over multiple years? |

That's the great thing about forums, complete anonymity. No one knows where I keep my 90 or what it looks like and even if they knew I had a tracker they would have to rip the vehicle apart to find it. Hopefully by which time the old bill will have got hold of them. The quickest recovery of a vehicle by Skytag so far is 11 minutes. That is from theft to police lifting the scrots. Well worth the money I think.

All GPS based tracking systems have the same issue that once the vehicle is parked under cover or simply covered with a tarp they stop working.
I know it's older technology but if your country has Tracker or aka Lojack company present their tracking system works nearly everywhere. Plus most police vehicles and all the helicopters have the seeking unit built into them so as soon as the tracking unit is active post theft you have hundreds of 'ole bill' vehicles scanning for your vehicle. Just a my opinion and no I don't work for Tracker.......or LoJack. |
