1987 Defender 90 300 Tdi HT Epsom Green
Water ingress cure???
The rubber strip between the hard top and rear tub is letting in water just behind the o/s door. I know you can get replacement rubber seals, but is the use of silicone or similar a better option, and if so, what do you recommend?

Im sure i've seen posts on here where masking tape is placed either side of the seal, run a bead of sikaflex and then smooth out by running a finger down it.

I'll try and find it.

Your better off using roof & gutter sealant. It remains more flexible.
Used it on mine.
Can be used in wet conditions

It's a foam strip, so after a while it compresses and doesn't seal as well. A good new seal fitted ok with stay watertight for at least 5 years, but as has been suggested you can make sure by adding some sealant too.
