Couldn't be done isn't something you often hear at any Land Rover specialist. It's not even that difficult. You just need to take a parallel feed from the nearside to the off side for the fog and vice versa for the reversing light. Any auto electrician could sort this for you. |

Due to the same chassis loom being used for LHD and RHD for some applications... you might find the wiring is already there!
If not, just be careful about how much current draw you are putting on the standard wiring... or fit a pair of LED NAS fog and reverse lamps - which are not only brighter, but draw a lot less current. On my 51 reg TD5, the wiring/sockets for fog/reverse lights are on both sides. So it should be plug and play, subject to current draw...

I like the idea, it should give you more light when reversing without the need to fit a flood light.
And it does make the vehicle look balanced  Russell

I think side lights in the fog lights would look good. Increase rear visibility too

A set of indicators and stop/tail lights mounted high up in the back of the roof make you more visible

On one of our Defenders we did have high mounted indicators and brake lights at rear.
However just had a look at the regs about maximum height Indicators [
Now are roof mounted indicators on a Defender 100% within the regs?? Brendan |

Given this bit:
You could argue that they're legal on a SW that has glass in the rear quarters but not on a USW that has a flat panel. However, as they would be supplementary to the the OE ones, then it could also be argued that the regulations have already been satisfied. It would be different, of course, if they were the only rear lights. In practice, there are lots of vehicles with these sorts of repeater lights higher up, from ambulances and recovery trucks to coaches and tank wagons, so I doubt that there's too much to worry about. Not going to much into it, they are talking about fitting a single set, here were talking about fitting additional light that more than meets the legal requirement.

Although I see the point of having 2 reversing lights I don't like cars with 2 fog lights.
The worst of which are Fiats which often have 2 close together which, when they are the only thing you can see through the fog, give the impression that the car is further away than it really is! |
