A bars
Hi can someone please clarify the laws on A bars for a 2012 vehicle please as I've heard mixed stories you can only have the landrover big bucks rubber one ?

That's if they're still willing to insure you. The minute you mention A-Bar lots of them will run a mile and refuse to insure. All details/experiences I can find in below threads....

2010 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Stornoway Grey
weirdly, im a younger person insured on a defender, and my insurance company told me as long as i don't alter the engine performance i can bolt on anything id like to the exterior, haven't bothered with a winch as they might start to question it but it has an a bar new wheels tires etc... lightforce on the cards

What rot!!! Misinformation I'm afraid! You'll only find out when and if you make a claim! Then the denials will ensue! Get it backed up either in writing or e-mail would be my advice before giving it a Mad Max makeover. Also ensure you register the extras with your insurers when you do fit or they'll most certainly not be reimbursed in the event of theft/damage.
