A Bar
Hi

Searched and could not find an answer so here it goes ...

I want ot fit an A Bar on my 110. But I allready have a Terrafirma winchbumper, (the rectangular one, not the tubular) and I also have AC

found two, on extreme4x4 and simmonites, but sent emails (3 times for each) and I'm still waiting for a reply from any of them... Evil or Very Mad

Do you know some place else where I can buy one ? I want to fit a set of 2 headlights after ....

Here in Portugal the cheapest I get is over 200€ ... lots of money ...

If you came across any link or webpage please let me know... Thumbs Up Regards
Joao

Your UK problem is they are illegal (thought it might apply to europe to)

Try paddocks, the basic design is the same Mike

50:50..... Correct interpretation within Europe allows one providing you have a winch fitted.

lrmaniac- I have one at home surplus to requirements. It has a few scuffs on it (no dents) so could do with a re-coat. If you are interested I will get my Dad to dig it out and see how much postage would be to you- All it will cost is a little hospitality if I decide to travel to your part of the world at some point Smile (and the postage).

I have no pictures as it was never fitted (due to new bumper).

It is this style of A-Bar:

As you can see, there are 2 bolt holes at the back which on Non-A/C was for the bumper bolts, and then a hole at the front to drill a hole in the bumper and put a nut and bolt on. My plan was to just drill all 3 holes in the bumper (nice flat surface on yours) which will allow you to have the A-bar mounted about 1-2 inches forward to match the A/C grill Smile....... Hope that makes sense?

Yes because they may have stock, which they can still fit and sell to older cars.

Anyway - somthing on a website doesnt make it legal Thumbs Up Mike

They are not illegal at all. I have genuine LR one fitted to my 08 Defender, insurance knows and had it's 1st mot also. Bloody E.U laws stop franchise dealers from fitting.

Ive checked the absolute latest - and its clearly listed as above - this is the June 2011 stock

They were definately not listed before - which fits them conitnuing not to be listed, which would also fit the legislation Mike

There's always a debate when this comes up. Has anyone actually ever been stopped and questioned about a bull bar or an A bar?

I mentioned before...there is more than one way to skin a cat and the insurance companies legislation or not have got it well sown up, and the evidence speaks for itself...

As an example use any insurance comparison site put the details of your Defender in and do a search....
Go back add an A-bar and do the same search and see how many companies drop off the list and refuse to insure.......

It both amazed and irritated me! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!
