2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 USW Santorini Black

I was all ready to fit spacers (even got the NFU to agree to cover them at no charge) to my 110 on standard wheels n tyres. Read this and climbed under car and screwed in the bump stops and the difference without any change other than tightening up a couple of bolts - it feels like a different vehicle altogether.

On 235s I have adjusted the stops so there's around a fingers' space between the control arm and the wheel on full lock.

My question is if I fit spacers how much more can I adjust the stops safely without risk of damage to the vehicle?

C 2015 110 USW XS in Santorini with premium contrast leather seats in tan/black, black headlining and with Dual Finish alloys (in the garage, now on Wolf rims with Goodyear MT/Rs)

2012 '62' 2.2 X-Tech 110 USW now gone ...
1984 90 soft top with full roll cage, 200 tdi engine etc now sold
2012 USW XS 2.2 "FUU" now gone....

I would not even contemplate this task without stands

All I did was crawl under the car as it was stood on the ground with the steering straight and screwed one side in then moved car back and fwd on full lock to see if I had gone too far/far enough. Then same with the other side. Done. No jacks, no stands just two 19mm spanners.

I believe it's another big difference to the circle with 30mm spacers and why I'm considering them. The wife will be even more impressed.......... 1951 80" S1 2.0

Question for me is how much more can you safely wind the lock stops in over and above a standard car on standard alloys with standard 235 tyres?

If I was on 265 tyres I would think spacers would be critical but I am just not sure how much more you will get on standard set-up.

Would love to know.

Someone will answer this I'm sure but if I put a 30mm offset on the wheels (using spacers) I would hope to be able to wind in the stops by the same amount again 1951 80" S1 2.0

I used to have 235s on Boosts (ET33 offset) with 30mm spacers and adjusted stop - awesome improvement

Now I have 265s on Dotz Dakar rims with ET8 offset, no spacers and adjusted stops = almost as good.

Zus have ET11 offset, so with no spacers and 235s or 265s and adjusted stop they should also be a good improvement over factory. Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Mine rubs when you turn left but not right... sounds like my stops are set a bit wonky then

How about if the stops are set equally already counting the turns exactly and equally on both sides surely that would do the same as well. And just check after it's not over done.. If it is reapeat but anti clockwise. I yet have to have a go at this yet. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___

Finally got round to checking and adjusting the steering lock stops today but I find that it's pretty much to the maximum I'd be happy to have it already. I can't help but think having it to close is not a good idea after all when tyre's are muddy it will bind between the tyre and the radius arm and if you were un-lucky enough to get a small stone in that gap it wouldn't be good so I'm leaving mine alone. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___
