Help: installing Entreq stainless door strips
Quick question about the washer order (can't get hold of Olaf)...

I've got bolts, nuts, metal washers and (fewer) plastic washers. Is the washer order from above:

metal washer, plastic washer, stainless strip, alu floor, metal washer
or
metal washer, stainless strip, plastic washer, alu floor, metal washer
or
something different?

I know it's all about corrosion but sometimes these things are more complicated than they seem Rolling Eyes

Cheers

Where is the smacked bottom icon when you need it.

Or I could say read the manual! Good job you are in Germany so just hope reading German is second nature to you!

Have a read of THIS

The plastic washers are for height adjustment.

Now do you fancy doing an English translation for us all?

Doh Thud
Feel very silly - actually saw those instructions last year but forgot where they were (has taken months to get some decent weather - today). Guess I panicked before the sun goes in Laughing
Cheers Brendan - for my sins I will provide a translation (when the weather is bad Thumbs Up )

Aha - actually the new MY12 strips don't come with the rubber edging because of the new LR door seals.
Off to play now... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

The plastic washer will use for "level" if necessary the screw ONLY for the plate where you put your feet.

In proximity of the seat, the edge of the battery box increases the thickness regarding the place where you put the feet....

Thanks guys Thumbs Up
Okay, so I used 2 plastic washers to even out the height at the front. I also used butyl and plastic washers underneath to make a good seal from below. I didn't use the compression band but used butyl tape instead (squeezes into anywhere and never fails) and went around all the edges of the stainless trim. Also butyl taped the door ledge below the door so the trim clamped down onto it (to keep water out). I clamped the carpet with the trim. I was a bit sad about early signs of rust in the footwell (hardly surprising with all the bloody water getting in) but treated it with KuRust and smothered everything with ACF-50 (I'm sure Zag will approve).
Finished by stuffing more butyl into every nook and cranny. Wasn't sure whether to fill a big gap at the back end with PU foam but opted for...more butyl instead (figured it might be good to leave a "breather" hole just in case).
Hope that makes sense. It's looks 90% pretty and 10% industrial but that's fine for me Wink

Being incredibly selfish Whistle I completed the front ones without documentation. I will take some "what I did earlier" ones though.
When I do the rear ones (after more butyl has arrived - ran out) I will photograph the whole process Thumbs Up
Cheers
