Maybe the cover plate under the cubby isn't sealed very well? It does after all just open down to thin air above the gearbox.

I noticed this on mine too (during my brief tenure!) and assumed it was a 'feature' of Defender ownership.

yer no doubt it is the tray that goes over the hole, bit of sealer or duck tape will sort it out or buy the sticky back foam from land rover and renew the strip on the tray

that plate need some good insulation to be glued on it - on all surface. IN summer when temperature about 30C and higher cubby box becomes oven Puma 110

I used some sticky backed foam - took 5 mins to fix.

4600?? That's nothing mines done 5700, mind you waiting for some better weather then it'll be dropped! Can't bring myself to crawl underneath in the wet at the moment ! Better do it before 6 k though or the box will self destruct.... ![]() |
