Put a permanent live socket in, can charge items without having to turn the key.

Mount a set of tweeters and bury the cross-overs in the void behind the dash.

Hi Pete

Thanks for the comments.

I used a rubber blanking grommet to fill the hole from the original washer jet.

When i relocated the washer jets i kept the grommets that are already there (for the left hand drive wipers) and made a hole in the centre to pass through the inner part of the washer jet.

When getting a second washer jet make sure that you get the one with the longer tube fitting as there is a shorter one available and finally its a bit tight inside the dash to get the securing nut on - just be patient oh and put the plastic pipe ends into a mug of boiled water as this makes them easier to slide onto the fittings without risking any damage

Good luck

Mark

I've got the mudstuff side window demister kit. There was an article on it in LRM some time ago when they fitted to a 110. Does make an improvement. If you go for it, play about with the demister vent location with the dash partly assembled - there isn't a huge amount of room but you can improve on the location in the instructions.

How about heated mirrors? That's my next mod.

Possibly LED instrument lights?

One of the things I remember doing years ago to a Series III was fitting a restrictor in the passenger side windscreen demister pipe to divert more airflow to the drivers' side. Less useful if you have a heated screen, of course.

Darren

Where is the wiper realy located, I suspect behind the instrument module that i have just replaced Embarassed not sure I understand your link wire mod but the led instruments are a good idea.

I've a heated screen so no need for the airlow mod

I fitted side-window demisters without paying Mudstuff £130 for the privilege. Just make your own. I did a little write-up here:

http://www.retroanaconda.com/landrover/201...demisters/

I've also done the double-washer jet mod. With the driver's one angled slightly to the off-side it works very well. Don't have to use anywhere near as much fluid as it actually reaches where the blades wipe.

I added a layer of soundproofing behind the dashboard as well.

Thanks to all for the suggestions, I fitted the VW wiper relay and the extra window washer, leaving the old one in the original place gives the drivers screen a double wash (sod the passenger!) Thumbs Up . Demisters will have to wait until next time.

Now its time to fit my heated mirrors and chequer plate rear seat bases.

I've got a .pdf document at home for the military side vents as fitted to the arctic vehicles.

They're small round (maybe an inch, or 1 1/4" diameter) vents that fit in either end of the dash (through the grab handle, and through the panel where the heater controls are) with some decent sized convoluted pipe that goes into a T piece for the windscreen vents.

I'll dig it out and post it up here.

Yes it copes perfectly.
I did this very same conversion 14-years ago but much more recently I decided to replace the single-motor reservoir for a twin-motor one with each pump serving a twin nozzle (soft-top with no rear wash/wipe to worry about). The pressure & amount of water delivered through each nozzle has not changed however the increase in capacity is a definate improvement. ONE LIFE, GET IT!

Hi Simon,

I changed the rear wiper relay for the kit shown below (bought from eBay):

If just installed on its' own, it makes the rear wiper work intermittently. However, by adding an extra wire from the spare terminal (green wire with blue spade connector) to the back of the rear washer switch, the wiper will run continuously when the washer switch is pressed.

I hope this helps. Darren

There is a washer fluid warmer thingy ypo can buy which is reputed to clean better, clear frost & remove oil, insect splatter & bird droppings with your wipers. It is pricey though. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

It is excellent though. You use a lot less washer fluid and its great in bad weather and on icey windscreens.

It's the one thing I will have in all future cars
