Scotland 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Stornoway Grey
I have had enough!
Why is it that when LR build defenders, they can't just do it properly! They know from years of complaints and warranty claims, that it would be better just to make sure they don't Censored leak!
My 110 is 2 months old and it been back to the dealer twice. Last time it was for a whole week, then they phone me tell me it's fixed. So I drove down to pick it up and I don't even get out of their forecourt and it wet on the drivers and passengers foot well.
The replaced the bulk head seal and sealed the windscreen and this was all my problems sorted they told me. Eh, no it wasnt! So I then had to spend another number of hours waiting for them to "see what they could do ". They already had it for a week!
Anyway after all that, it's still leaking. Looks like its coming through the fake hinge on n/s, I saw a water drip from one of the bolts on the inside. And driver side, the small part of the bulk head seal that you can see on the inside has turned white with salt, but it's not wet.
I have ordered myself some creeping crack cure and have a go at this myself Big Cry RRS tdv8 08

Make sure the rubber grommets for the left hand drive wipers are sealed too.

Don't worry the water leaks may pale into insignificance once the other dealer issues take over, in my experience if you can live with it for three years they tend to be fully sorted.

I always enjoy doing my longer trips in the 'loaner' cars to keep my mileage down.

In my experience, the windscreen leaks are the worst. You don't really notice them but they build up somewhere behind the dash then flood the floor. Zagato's cure of pumping windscreen sealant (something like Arbomast) all around the rubber to frame (especially the top) worked for me. The problem was water coming forward off the roof (rain or melting snow) and into the top seal, then running down around inside the seal and exiting front of dash. It was a slow process, but after a few day's rain it built up to a waterfall. Most people say the windscreen seal is prehistoric rubbish (on mine, the crappy welding made a dry seal impossible).

Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Chris.

I noticed there is water lying in the channel on the inside where the wipers are. But also the drain on the outside has two joins on it not far from the hinges. I kept an eye on them inside the cab while my dad poured water on it, after a couple of watering cans later the water started coming through and would run down on to the bulk head seal, which then absorbed it until it was soaking, it was then dripping on to the footwell. I can't decide if the bolts on the hinge is letting in water or if it's just running of the bulk head seal.

Thanks guys for your advice, it's always good to hear other people's ideas and experiences with these things. RRS tdv8 08
