Water Ingres through..
Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has experienced the following? Water Ingres into front of vehicle via the foam seal under the windscreen? I can't find any where else where it can be coming in from. Are there any simple fixes / solutions? Did think of sealing with bathroom sealant!

Cheers in advance

leak
Hi,
Try 'Captain Tolly' self seeking sealer from any boating shop.
It is clear and and will seek out leaks.
Great stuff

another fix someone did on here awhile ago, loosen the six screen bolts each side of the screen surrond get some one to sit on the front of the roof, then re tighten(dont over tighten them as they will break through the outer covers) are you sure it's not the screen to frame seal leaking our TD5 leaked from that.

good luck 2.4 90 XS

Cheers all I will give the options a shot, many thanks. I'll start with tightening the bolts then go from there!

Also make sure it isn't the door seals. I thought mine was through the windscreen but it turned out to be the door seals Rolling Eyes typical Land Rover.... Water on the left side of the car is caused by a seal on the right side!!

also if its like mine (or fekete's) there will be some rust issues on the inside of the bulkhead, waiting to get that sorted, plus if it is rusty then its 6 years not 3 years warrienty.

Water ingress = common problem, so common there's a Defender water ingress manual dedicated to the subject. They had my previous Puma back to replace the seal & door seals ..oh and the TD5 before that, and possibly the TD5 before that. Steve.

Yes !

Yeovil LR replaced the foam seal on my 2009 vehicle , apparently they have done a few, and sealed the windscreen correctly. problem solved. Not a simple job to replace as it is a dash out, roof off job.

I had new window / seal, also put in with silicone. Silicone all over the place, in all the rain channels. New door seals on both front doors helped. The rain was running down the door seal and into the carpets through a crease in the seal. Then had to have the roof re-sealed along the centre joint and the all the roof repainted.
Think the water has stopped coming in now. Although i still think some is getting through the foam seal on the bulk head. The bulk head now has rust on the inside. The vehicle is only 2 years old.
At one point there was that much water getting in the car that it got into the alarm module and caused it to blow. The alarm was an after market fitment and was mounted behind the dash board and mounted to the bulk head. Land Rover had to pick up the bill for £200 to have the module replaced.
Hope you get yours sorted. I now think i ve got a leak on the drivers rear door Rolling Eyes
