Posting links
Dumb question here, but how do I link a particular word in my message to a web link, without posting the complete url?

On other forums I type the relevent word eg. drop plate, and then click the link icon above my message so I can create a web page link to that word. That word then normally appears in bold and underlined.

When clicking the 'URL' icon above, it just creates some tags, how do I link a particular word in my message to the web link without posting the complete url?

You insert the actual URL (so www.google.co.uk or whatever) after an equals sign in the square brackets, then close the brackets and put the text you want to make clicky. So like the following but with square brackets not round ones:

(url=www.google.co.uk)Clicky text here(/url)

Select the whole of the word you want to make into the link, then click on the URL button.

This will put the "" and "" tags round the word.

Now edit the opening tag (the bit inside the first set of square brackets - make sure that the brackets are still there) to be in the format "url=http://www.defender2.net/forum" and that should do the trick (I can't put the square brackets in the bit in this post without it becoming a link and hence invisible, and obviously the link to this forum is just an example, insert your own link in its place).

Simples! It's actually harder to get all these tags and things into a post in a visible format than to put the links in.

HTH

PS 2.6khz, you just beat me to it! Thumbs Up
