As yours is a 2.2 , and thus has a Bosch ABS system, the Nanocom will have minimal capabilities to monitor its operations and none to configure them.

For the 2.2 the Nanocom has only recently been able to code new injectors and undertake a pump learn, noting there is no facility to do pilot correction learn on a 2.2 ‘s engine management so it wont be on a Nanocom or any other diagnostics tool.
some have still reported issues with coding 2.2 injectors.

No DPF forced regen capability, limited monitoring.

Alarm unit support (ALM) , this is the unit that replaced the green 10AS alarm unit, this was developed for the CH version of the ALM unit however blackbox “believe” it’s ok with the DH version but have not tested it. some have found configuring the ALM unit can cause issues and immobilise the vehicle.

You can now clear the oil service message with the Nanocom.

So for the 2.2 Nanocom is a mixed bag, and not as good as for the 2.4.

If you are looking at a tool I would investigate the GAP IDTool, the downside is it’s locked to one vehicle, however I think it has more capacity than the current version of the Nanocom.

I took the sensor out and it drained the oil from the hub, is this normal?

Has anyone noticed this remark? I find this strange in two ways: a) the sensor is mounted on top of the hub, so how should anything drain b) there should be no oil in a 2.2's hub but grease

I’m glad someone spotted it in my original post. I guess the previous owners put this in. It was last serviced by AstonMartin dealership(owners company. You’d think they’d know better. I presume I can just drain this out and fill with one shot. Neither of the hubs are leaking.

Ok, that answers b) - incompetent dealer, not unplausible Rolling Eyes
What about a) - how did/do you drain the oil? There is no drain plug and the ABS sensor is on the top of the hub (the obvious solution, turning the axle upside down was already suggested Wink)
You could use an oil pump maybe, but your orignal post confused me re the draining.

I wonder if they removed the sensor in order to fill the hub to the top, and then refitted it incorrectly. You can never tell, and Aston Martin technicians will likely not be familiar with old school landrovers.

Just drain your axle/diff casing..you will likely wonder why its so full / overfull..I certainly did..🫣🤣..
I don't think the sealing is that effective ..
I just re filled with grease and until I do my front axles I most probably have a rather fluid grease in the housing..😳

On the foxwell question.. that model is no longer supported, but they will have an updated model..
But any half decent scan tool with the option of European makes will likely fo the same job

I’ll probably use a vacuum pump to drain as much as I can from the hub and stick in some one shot. I’ll have a chance to check the rings then. I also need to check the diffs and transfer box to make sure they have the right oil one way or another.

I’ve ordered a Foxwell NT680 plus as that can read live values and steering angle sensors. I work on other cars as well so it would be a benefit too. If this doesn’t fix the problem I’ll invest in the NCom03.

Speaking to specialist LR garages it’s a fairly known issue ranging from faulty ABs units both Bosch and Wabsco, to steering angle sensors, wiring and wheel sensors. The vehicle thinks it’s working correctly or it would flag a fault light so it’s just a case of ticking off each item. The ABS modulator is the most expensive bit but only £200 exchange if I’ve found the right bit.

First job reluctor rings and sensors.

Wonder if they over filled the diff because the seals had gone which filled the hubs as well, is this likely or possible with 60k miles?

Don’t think they fitted incorrectly as appeared ok and bold was very stiff and corroded

An update…
The ECU finally kicked up and error with the rear left (N/S) sensor. I lifted the wheel off and saw the 5/6 retaining nuts were almost off their thread. Doubt they came undone on their own but who knows. Tightened them up thinking id fixed it but it’s still doing the same thing. Checked the voltages with a fox well NT680 Pro and the rear n/s appears to occasionally lag the others in output. Ie starts off ok but when braking (and the issue happens) the signal is lower in amplitude than all the rest. I suspect as the reluctor ring was loose, its either now damaged the sensor or possibly pushed it back slightly. I will investigate and let you all know.

I had somewhat similar issues with you recently. In my case, my truck is 2011 2.4 Puma. I would get front left wheel speed sensor error. Got a new sensor, no bueno. Tried cleaning the ring on the CV by just running a rag on it from the speed sensor hole, no bueno.

We had to remove the tire, drive member, and pull out the CV, ring was gunked up with what we presume is one shot grease with alarmingly viscous viscosity. Cleaned it up good, repacked the CV, greased up the drive member, topped off with thicker, but to spec, grease to replace the viscous one in the hub. All good now.

I hope this helps. No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy

Finally fixed it, removed the sensor, a few iron filings on the end, cleaned it and re-inserted it. It appeared to go in slightly further. I suspect if its too far out this causes a lag as id thing there would be a threshold voltage that needs to be reached before acting upon it. Anyway all good now Picture of the inductor ring retaining bolts very loose!
