I’ve dented my pride and joy! :bang:
I’ve dented my pride and joy! Banging Head It’s only a smallish dent at the front corner but it has scratched the front of the gloss black wheel arch trim and the Gondwana stone paint around the dent.
I’ve developed a stinker of a cold and my wife is worse and in bed. I shouldn’t have driven it in my state but we were out of milk and eggs and bread. The shop is only a mile away. I could kick myself from here to Africa. It is pishing down with rain this afternoon so I’m in no mood to take a picture but will do tomorrow if the weather and I are better.

Sorry to hear. Be stoic: according to the stoics there are two distinctive things: there is the event and your reaction to the event. You are in control of your reaction, don't let it take over your day/week.

Or be like the French: it's just a car, dents happen over the life of a car.. and then you buy a new one.

I feel your pain, it does happen but always can be put right.

Hope you feel better soon.

If it’s useful and you have it in your area you might find Deliveroo or similar service useful, then you can get your groceries dropped off and take it easy if you wanted to. ____\We|Will|Win/___

lt's no big deal, just life.

A mobile dent repair company will sort out the dent for around £200

The wheel arch trims are around £85 and you can change that yourself, although you'll need to visit your local friendly body shop first and get it sprayed (unless the mobile dent company will do it)

Feeling really rotten with painful coughs and phlegm. However I did take it to the local body shop, only two miles away, and he reckons that pulling the dent out and painting the front of the wing and gloss black arch trim will cost me about £500.

Just leave it as it is. After driving through the last UK storm, my Defender got hit by a tree branch, leaving a dent across the bonnet and front end.
Honestly, I think it looks better now — it’s finally had its real-world baptism, and I’m not the slightest bit upset about it.
I’ll collect a few more marks, and in a year’s time, I’ll get it all sorted.

We purchase all sorts of things and just use them, when they get scrapes and scuffs that’s part of the rough and tumble that stuff goes through. My view is now that these marks are just character and tell a story along with showing that they are actually used. But I also like rat rods. 1983 110 automatic OM606

The joys of motoring on two wheels and four. Came back to a supermarket carpark scrape on the 110, had it repaired by an ex-Chips Away indie; I could have just left it but it niggled every time I caught sight of it, so £210 well spent. My bike has some minor scrapes from a failed theft attempt- they don't worry me but I'm having it fixed because it is on pcp and I will end up paying at the end of lease.

Sorry to hear,
But trust me you will forget it one day. And it dien not take the joy out of the car, focus on that.
Cheers

We’ve been quite ill with the sudden onset cold here for the last couple of days but I finally dragged myself out to take a picture.

Yes that's too big a dent for a mobile company

I’d be tempted to remove the wheel arch cover and gently pop it back out with a rubber mallet.
Then give it a clean, apply some scratch paste, and touch up the paint.
If it still looks terrible… well, off to the body shop — those “body therapists” are pricey these days!

Edit:
Even better, looking at the photos, if you manage to popo it out… rust inibitor and go with extended arches! It will cost you the same as repairing it and I bet it will cover the area without needing to repaint it.
Turn the mistake into an opportunity…

another option even cheaper and faster!! I think it would also cover it effectively than wheel arch cover, that I think it would leave part of the dent out !!…and I assure you that it is quite effective in protecting those prominent elephant ears so characteristic of the defender from the usual projected stones… and they are really cheap and easy to put on or take off
