United Kingdom 1998 Defender 110 300 Tdi HT Alaska White
Future parts
Thought id add a little update and thoughts while im away on some of the things that should be fitted when im back.

Ive decided to keep the standard 300tdi rad for now just to keep fabbing time down, this meant either finding stubby twin pass inter coolers or charge coolers. I found some stubby ones that would fit for around 450 a piece... quite expensive, or charge coolers universal ones starting at 150 a piece plus all the parts for pumps and a smaller radiator, in the end ive found two charge coolers from the bmw f10 m5 which are capable of cooling their n63 hot-v turbos from 400bhp up to 700 which is well within my requirements. Planning on stuffing these in the wings and running a hyundai i10 radiator infront and offset from the 300tdi radiator to limit airflow blockages. This means more flow for the standard rad.

Next up a blackbird p38 steering arm kit has been ordered as the standard box does not fit on the inside of the chassis rail anymore, i wasnt aware at the time that id need to drill into the chassis to fit extra crush tubes so im hoping i can do this without having to remove the engine again.

All that will be left parts wise is pipework and getting proper propshafts made up once i figure out lengths.

Them hopefully this can all be done when im back for a week in november, which leaves decemeber for all the wiring work and engine repairs as it has a oil leak from the top turbo feed and powersteering leak, it might seem counter intuitive but i didnt fix these while the engine was out, as i wanted to see if it could be fixed while in situ otherwise the entire idea would be nullified if i have to remove the engine to fix simple things, however im willing to accept having to remove the wings for certain things if necessary as these are far easier and manageable, however from the looks of things this wont be necessary either

If all goes well itll be driving in january, but not setting a time frame as i dont want to rush and miss something. Defender 110 300tdi hard top

Optimistic! Laughing Getting the engine in is the easy bit!... Its the rest of the fiddling, faffing and making other little bits of fun fitted.

Just out of interest, is there a dedicated following to fitting Audi engines it to other cars, in a similar way to M57 with big aftermaret support, or it using an aftermarket ECU and sorting yourself?
