P400e coolant smell and EV mode
I have 2024 P400e, it has covered 21k km in total, about 7k km have been electric driven. I have a couple of questions:

I've had the car from new, over the 11-month period the coolant level has dropped from above max to below min. I cannot see any visible sign of leakage; however, I can smell coolant if I open the bonnet after the car has been running on the 2.0l engine. Any idea's where to start looking for a leak first.

My second question is about how quickly the vehicle should move from Hybrid to EV mode, sometimes this can take up to 5mins (or 5km), it seems as it has gotten worse over the last few months, when we got car I recall the move from hybrid to EV mode was pretty quick.

I took it to the deal today (in Lyon, FR), they topped off the coolant and said they couldn’t find a leak. On the EV/Hybrid mode they said new software had been installed.

I'm not over worried because I have a 5-year warranty, however, i would like to know what going on. Over the summer when the Hybrid/EV mode transition was worse, I did get an error code on my GAP tool of P3039-92 (64) Battery Charger Control Module Power Delivery - I could find too much on this code.

Any ideas?

Thx, Stu

You could have a leaking auxiliary radiator - a rock hit my aux radiator and caused a pinhole leak. It always smelled like coolant, but I never got a low coolant warning, nor did I notice the expansion tank being low.

It could also be the O-ring on the coolant line that feeds the turbocharger. That is a common fault on the gas Ingenium engines. 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟏𝟎 𝐒 𝐏𝟑𝟎𝟎 (Pangea Green over Acorn/Lunar)

About the coolant smell: the coolant should contain a fluorescent substance, therefore by using an UV-light, a potential leak should be easy to find. Only if it's inside the engine then you would not see it, only in the oil.
About the switching from Hybrid to EV-only mode, I noticed too (having an P300e) that it takes some time. My conclusion was that it has todo with the ICE-temperature and state (it tries to protect it, f.e. the turbine).

Question from my side: how do you see how many km the ICE was active? THX 25.5MY 110 P300e Carpathian grey

Good question about the ICE vs EV miles covered. I thought I saw the data on the LR app, I just took another look and culdnt find it in the new app. You can download all your journeys from the app to a CSV file, the EV distance is recorded for each trip.

Your EV heater could faulty regarding the delay swapping to ev mode. Mine was reluctant to start off in ev mode & when in cooler ambient temps (below 10 degC). It went to have the issue diagnosed & EV heater was replaced. It now starts in ev mode & stays in EV except where throttle demand kicks engine in. It took a few days for it to settle following the swap as i think they did a software update too. 2023 110 P400e
